It’s Thursday; Ben has his conference today and tomorrow. I decided to venture out by myself. The air quality is worse than it’s been, see below. I did take a face mask but didn’t end up using it much. I wore it in the morning some, but it cleared up by the time I startedContinue reading “MO Solo”

Spa Day
We returned to Delhi Tuesday night and took the day off from sightseeing Wednesday. We hung around the hotel and Ben worked on his presentation. I worked out in the morning, the hotel’s gym is in the spa. It’s the first time I’ve taken clothes to change into at a hotel gym, I had toContinue reading “Spa Day”
Taj Mahal
We got up early Tuesday morning to see the Taj at sunrise. It’s also less busy then. With the ticket, you get a pair of shoe covers and a water. I hate that I’ve had to use so many plastic bottles this trip, but we’ve not seen many refill stations, none in hotels. With aContinue reading “Taj Mahal”
Heading home
Well, it was a great run, but Cody calls us. We had a 4am flight Saturday morning. With a 2 hour drive to the airport, we decided to stay up Friday night. For any that know Ben and me, that was extremely difficult! =) By the time we sat down in the airplane, I couldContinue reading “Heading home”
Day with the girls
Friday I spent some time with the other wives that came to India–Ellen, Eileen and Vivian. We saw Lodhi Gardens, the Gandhi museum, ate at a wonderful restaurant, and saw the Qutb Minar. We started at the gardens; it’s definitely a place schools bring classes, we saw plenty! This is a mosque used during theContinue reading “Day with the girls”
We saw elephants!
Elephants We visited an elephant sanctuary in Mathura which is about 30 minutes outside Agra. It is run by Wildlife SOS, an Indian non-profit. The organization has multiple missions. Here, they rescue elephants that are abused for human or entertainment uses, mainly in the circus or as riding or Temple elephants. Elephants are a sacredContinue reading “We saw elephants!”
Fatehpur Sikri
Today we ventured out from Agra, first to Fatehpur Sikri and then to an elephant sanctuary run by Wildlife SOS. In Fatehpur, an emperor built a large palace. It took them 12 years to build it, and they lived there for only 13. It’s a beautiful place. It starts with a courtyard and public assemblyContinue reading “Fatehpur Sikri”
Agra bound
We’ve boarded the train to Agra, it’s a 2.5 hour ride. I’m always interested to see how transit operates in other countries. The Indian train system is heavily utilized, as evidenced by the very busy Hazrat Nizamuddin station. It’s like Penn station in NYC during rush hour but with only 8 tracks. India has anContinue reading “Agra bound”
First venture into New Delhi
We wandered into Delhi today, started at the Red Fort. We took the metro in, we’re about 50 km from it, so it took a long time. We got to see a lot of the surrounding area as the metro rails are elevated. It ranged from ag fields to a tent city as we headedContinue reading “First venture into New Delhi”
Meanwhile, back at the ranch…
Don’t fret – Cody’s been making friends.
